Stephanie “Fluffy” Carol Hayes Gusto! When summing up Stephanie’s life, the most encapsulating word is “GUSTO”. After years of marriage and trying to have a child, her parents, Bruce and Dee Hayes, were informed by the doctors there was only a "one in a million" chance of having a child. But against all odds, their little "one in a million" was born the day before their 9th anniversary and she became our little "snugglebug." She volunteered at the hospital while still in high school, volunteered at the Alexandria Fire Department many years go, worked as a certified nursing assistant at the hospital; worked herself up to an EMT and had her hopes of becoming a paramedic. However, upon damaging her back, she was unable to continue in the medical field. It was her dream to re-gain control of her physical ailments so that she could get back to the medical field to help others. With a large family and many friends, there was never a shortage of fun when Stephanie was around! Besides her mother, father, and grandmother, she had many aunts and uncles on both sides of her family tree and she had more cousins than you could throw a stick at. Quick-witted and funny, Stephanie could entertain with stories, handmade crafts and made up songs to fit any situation. She had trying times as all people do, surviving bumps that were not always easy to shake off. Stephanie was a whiz with kids and she loved all of her cousin’s five kids, Gaby, Charlie, Elijah, Levi and Noe, as if they were her own. At times, they would even call her Mom. Stephanie loved animals and cared deeply, for not only her own pets, but helped other people care for their pets. Everyone has a special "Fluffy" story, but Stephanie would want you to concentrate on those you love, the ones you can hug, the ones you can talk to, the ones you could sit with. As we lose our wonderful, one in a million, Fluffy, we need to remember Romans 12:12 “Rejoice in the hope. Endure under tribulation. Persevere in prayer.” She was survived by her dad and mom, Bruce and Dee Hayes, grandmother, aunts and uncles, Brenda Bergeron, Fred Sothard, Donna Sothard, Herb Sothard, Jr, Jean Nemchin, Christine Wilham, Joyce Huff, Connie Brewster, Robin Ryan, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Stephanie had always said she didn't want any funeral or visitation. So per her long known wishes, she has been cremated and the immediate family will have a gathering on a date unknown at this time.
