Robert (Bob) Lawrence Dirr, 66, of Independence, KY, passed away on April 22nd, 2022. He will be deeply missed. Bob was born on August 14th, 1955, on Fort Belvoir, in Fairfax County, Virginia. Bob graduated from LaSalle High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and earned an Information Technology (IT) degree from Northern Kentucky University, where both his children would later study. In his early years, he owned an indoor putt-putt golf and a souvenir stand outside the Cincinnati Reds baseball stadium. Bob worked 36 years at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), with his longest and most recent employment helping maintain the W&I Service Center’s e-leave portal. Bob enjoyed computer programming, biking, gardening, boating, and playing sports. His favorite professional sports team was the Bengals. Bob loved traveling with his family via train to national parks and amusement parks. He even visited Disney World over 30 times. Bob was earth conscious and often rode his bike in a straw hat to recycle cans. For the last five years, his favorite topic was about buying an electric car from Tesla, or as he called it “Tesler.” We think he loved the idea of a Tesla more so than actually purchasing one. Bob was predeceased by his father Richard Dirr, mother Ruth Dirr, and brother Rick Dirr. He is survived by his wife of almost 32 years Lorna Dirr, daughter Bobbie (Bobin) Dirr-George, son James Dirr, grandson Everett George, brother Ken (Kathy) Dirr, sister Diane (Greg) Cornelius, and brother Doug Dirr, plus many nieces, nephews, and extended family. A visitation will be held on May 2, 2022 from 5 to 7 pm at Don Catchen & Sons Funeral Home, Elsmere, KY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the National Parks Conservation Association in honor of the deceased.
