Gary Lee Vest, 2nd, 50, Florence, Kentucky passed away on May 12, 2022, of a heart attack. Gary was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 14, 1971; the son of Gary Lee Vest and Denise Marie (Alsept/Alsop) Vest. Gary is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pamela Rae (Sowders) Vest and children Ashley Nicole Browning (Rick Norris), Holly (Bobby) Rawe, Kevin Michael Vest, Tyler Matney, Jada Matney, Aliyah Vest, and Jackson Meyer; grandchildren Noah Rhea Dycus, TJ Dycus, Kylee Browning, and Matthew Alexander Rawe, and step-grandchildren Brianna Starr, Brooklyn Starr, Anastasia Dycus, Bobby Jr., Abby, and Stephen; and close family friend Megan Haywood. Gary is survived by his mother Denise Powell of Dayton and his father Gary (Pamela) Vest of Powell, Ohio. His siblings Cheryl Lynn (Derrick) Kilby and Kevin Randall (Kimberly) Vest, half-brother Luke (Grace) Vest and half-sister Eurella Vest, and stepbrother George W. (Susan) Powell 5th. Loved by his aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins and others that knew him. Preceded in death by his stepfather Gus Powell, of Dayton, his mother-in-law Betty Yates and father-in-law Earl Sowders, and recently his grandmother Esther Alsept. Gary honorably served and retired from the U.S. Navy as a Surgical Technologist and Hospital Corpsman, a veteran of the Persian Gulf War, and later worked at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio as a surgical assistant. Gary was most known for his love and generosity to others, opening his home to those in need or helping a stranger. Gary knew Jesus as his Lord and was an optimist in all things. Interment at the Dayton National Cemetery located at 4400 W. Third St., Dayton, Ohio at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, with a graveside service.
