Obituary of Jean M Niehaus
Niehaus, Jean M., 93, of Fort Wright, KY passed away at Madonna Manor on August 5, 2019.
Jean worked from 1958-1986 at William Booth Memorial Hospital, as an ER Nurse, Coronary Care Nurse and Nursing Supervisor. She taught the first EMT classes in Northern kentucky and continued teaching for 9 years. She served as a Board Member of Northern Kentucky Health Department for 25 years. She was the 1st Nurse appointed in Kentucky. Jean also stated a luncheon club of former Booth Hospital Employees called the "Booth Elite" club. This group meets at Greyhound Tavern every three months. Each December this group takes up a collection which is usually between $1000.00 and $2000.00 which is given to the Salvation Army and given directly to an officer of the Salvation Army at the December Luncheon.
Jean belongs to Grandmothers Club since 1989. They still meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Ft. Wright Civic Club.
Jean loves Wii Bowling, card playing, assisting other people, cooking and working on the monthly auction for the Residents. She also had a very large collection of miniature spoons, she has collected over 200 of the
She is preceded in death by her Husband: Charles L."Jim" Niehaus (95); and her Parents: James and Anna Mardis. She is survived by her Sons: Michael (Paula) Niehaus, Gregory (Debbie) Niehaus, Paul Niehaus; Daughter: Judy (Cecil) Hicks and Nephew: Ronald Mardis along with many Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10:00AM to 12:00PM on August 8, 2019 at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home in Elsmere, KY. Services will begin at 12:00PM. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, KY. In Lieu of Flowers , donation to the Salvation Army
