Obituary of Dan R McConnaughey

Danny Ray McConnaughey (Dan the Man, “Dude”), 67, passed away early Sunday morning October 4, 2020 at his home in Crestview Hills, KY. Dan was a military veteran of the US Army as a mechanic and was honorably discharged in 1974. Dan spent over 15 years at Bobcat Enterprises where he was a beloved and respected member of their family and will be missed dearly by the many people he worked with. Dan was preceded in Death by his parents, Earl Allen McConnaughey and Vadella Rosemond Paugh. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pamela Sue McConnaughey, His sons, Jeremy Ray (Tara) McConnaughey, Jeffrey Allen (Kelly) McConnaughey, his brother, Jerry McConnaughey, his sister, Rosemary Storie. Dan is also survived by his half-sisters Missy and Charlotte and his step brothers and sisters. Dan had a special place in heart for all his grandchildren Grant, Carson, William, Paige, Samantha, and Remie. He loved them more than anything and fought his battles to be able to watch them grow and flourish in whatever they do. Grandpa Dan will always be watching and beaming with joy throughout all their accomplishments in life. Dan had many passions in his life but those who knew him well know that racing was one of his favorites. He spent many years taking his sons to the track and even built a rooftop deck on his van (Big Red). He was always first in line to pull in and get his spot in Turn 2. He eventually became a legendary crew member with Team 15. Those who know dirt racing know you don’t get paid for those hours spent in the shop and at the track. His dedication and passion to the sport is what dirt racing is all about. The friendships he made with his racing family will never be forgotten. A celebration of Dan’s Life will be held on Friday October 9th, 2020 at Jeremy and Tara’s house 734 Oskamp Dr. Loveland, OH from 3pm-7pm.
