Obituary of David R Bowmann

DAVID ROBERT BOWMANN INDEPENDENCE, KY – David R. Bowmann, 55, was called home to the Lord April 5, 2021. He was born December 14, 1965, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Edward R. and MaryAnn Bowmann (Ostendorf). David graduated from Scott High School, Taylor Mill, KY, class of 1983. In the year following graduation he joined the U.S. Army. He attended basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, in the Missouri Ozarks. His military career specialty was in heavy equipment mechanics until his discharge in 1987. In 1992 he married, and in 1993 he welcomed the birth of his daughter, and only child, Taylor, with former wife Pamela (Schmidt) Taylor. David was a whiz at engine repair. There wasn’t a piece of machinery he didn’t know his way around. He was known as “Super Dave” in his business circle. He was a certified mechanic for John Deere and Stihl. David enjoyed fishing, although he didn’t do it as much as he’d like. He loved to cook and never missed the chance to show off his grilling skills at family gatherings. David was a good, loving, caring, generous brother and friend. He started his phone calls to his sisters with “hello Sis, Brother Dave” and always ended every call with “I love you”. His kind nature and giving spirit was what made him special. He will be forever missed. He is preceded in death by his parents Edward Robert and MaryAnn Bowmann. Survived by his daughter Taylor Lenihan (Ryan); siblings Lynn Sutter (Tom), Connie Garcia, (Greg), Kathy Cahill (Steve), Paul Bowmann (Ellen), Sharon Kinney (Doug), Laura Halcomb (Jeff), Ken Bowmann (Barbie); grandchildren, Logan and Riley Lenihan; 24 nieces and nephews; 27 great nieces and nephews and many friends. A service of remembrance and internment will be Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY. A cavalcade procession to the cemetery will begin at 10 am at Don Catchen & Sons Funeral Home located at 3525 Dixie Highway, Elsmere KY. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations to Redwood school, Ft. Mitchell, KY, for children and adults with severe and multiple disabilities, would be welcomed at redwoodnky.org.
