Obituary of Alexander C Hoffman

Alexander Coursey Hoffman died September 29, 2021 at the age of 24. Alex was born June 27, 1997. He spent most of his life in Northern Kentucky and graduated from Ryle High School in 2015. Immediately following high school graduation, Alex joined the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 101st Airborne division stationed at Ft. Campbell. While serving, he was deployed overseas twice: once to Cameroon, and then to Iraq. He was most proud of spotting an IED in Iraq while on patrol, preventing harm to his fellow soldiers. He received an honorable discharge from the Army in February of 2020. A lifelong history buff, Alex enrolled at Northern Kentucky University as a history major, with a concentration in military history. He made the President’s List (4.0 GPA) both semesters of his Freshmen year. He was a Sophomore at the time of his death. Alex also worked part-time assisting his mother and stepfather at Burlington Pet Hospital. Besides history, Alex’s interests included science fiction and fantasy writings and movies, philosophy, video games, and science (especially biology and paleontology). He loved board games whenever he could get enough people assembled to play. Alex had a big voice, a strong hug, an infectious laugh, and a generous spirit. He also had the wit and timing of a stand-up comic. He always kept his family in stitches with his stories. No words can express the depth of sorrow and anguish his family feels, or the eternal love they have for this unique and infinitely special soul. Alex is survived by his life partner Jasmin Bratcher; his mother Yvonne and stepfather Ben Kordenbrock; his father Kurt Hoffman; and his grandparents Merle & Effie McKeehan, and Sharon Hoffman. The family will receive friends at Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home, 3525 Dixie Hwy., Elsmere, KY from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5. Internment will take place at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, 205 Eibeck Ln., Williamstown, KY, at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to gather afterwards for refreshments at the McKeehan residence, 10671 Turcotte Ct., Union, KY.
