James Tackett Jr.

Obituary of James Michael Tackett Jr.

On June 2, 2022, the world became a smaller place. At 8:49 p.m., James (Mikie) Michael Tackett Jr. shared his last moment with a family that was blessed by the generosity of his spirit, the fullness of his personality and the unending depth of his love. While his family – both immediate and extended – were his touchstone, his giving nature extended through his network of friends and into the community at large. His mother and father, Sheryl and James Sr., his brothers, Joseph, Patrick and Randall, and his sister, Charlene (Charlie) will live on with the memories of his 41 years of exuberance for, and love of life. Mikie will always be remembered for the gifts he left to his family and the rest of the world. Elijah, Donovan and Carson, with the guidance of their mother, Julie Megerle, and their grandparents, Jan and John Megerle, will continue to display the humor and intellect that we all recognize as Mikie’s legacy. Yzabella and James III, with their mother, Jennifer (Tackett) Bridewell, continue on his path of dedication to helping others and becoming the best of what we expect of our children, already demonstrating his love of learning as well as his caring and compassion for others, Michael leaves us all in capable hands. Michael’s youngest son, Anthony, with his mother, Tessa Hart, and grandparents, Tony and Tena Hart, must grow up feasting on the too short but sweet memories of his time with his daddy. It is left to all of us to remind him of their time together and how deeply his father loved him. For all of us for now, the sun does not seem to shine as bright. The grass is not so green as just a few short days ago. This is particularly true for Mikie’s family. His grandmother, Charlene Lannigan, and so many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins are now celebrating his life as they attempt to deal with the loss of his loving smile and engaging manner. As Mikie began his new journey, he was fortunate to have his special cousin, Chris Hutson, to see him off. From bringing him back home to finally rest, to his last run of his old neighborhood, to long discussions of life, love and loss. Thank you Chris for guiding our Mikie to his forever home. The world is a smaller place. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 9, 2022 from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home, Elsmere. Service will follow at 1:00pm.
