John Lawrence Eustice Gillen passed peacefully in his home Saturday, June 11, 2022. Jack was born on November 4, 1957 in Covington, KY. He spent his early years living in Kalamazoo, Michigan with his parents and sister where he enjoyed ice skating and ice hockey. In later years after moving back to Kentucky he learned how to shoot and became a skilled hunter. He enjoyed hiking and spending time in nature often camping in the outdoors. In his later years he enjoyed reading and Skyping with his three grandchildren since they live away from Kentucky he established a pen pal relationship with them and always enjoyed receiving their letters as they did him. Jack always made friends wherever he would go with his charismatic charm and often cooked meals for his friends and shared life stories. Jack will always be remembered for his happy personality and big smile and generous nature towards others. In recent years he was blessed through DNA discovery to learn who his biological parents were and to learn that he has six siblings, two he was able to meet in person and one he established a close sibling friendship with through many conversations on the phone. Although his life was troubled at times he always tried to stay positive even in times of great darkness. He will be missed and will always remain in our hearts. Jack was proceeded in death by his parents and sister and is survived by his three children, Heather Gillen Andolina (Kevin), Jacob Gillen (Liana), Andrew Gillen (Amelia), his ex-wife Gayle Gillen (Partin), three grandchildren, Isabella, Olivia, Joseph, six siblings and many nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. If you would like to support a cause and make a donation please give to your local drug and alcohol centers in support of those struggling drug addiction.
